Welcome to St. John Catholic School, a family-focused school enriched by our Catholic faith with students in preschool through 8th grade.
Breaking a new trail can be an exhilarating and frightening experience. As parents and educators, we know that life’s journey includes many such trails. At St. John Catholic School, we believe education is the key to helping children blaze through these trails with confidence. St. John Catholic School provides families with the tools their children need to get them started on their path to academic and lifelong success.
Our school also is a safe haven amid the cultural challenges many parents face today. Our faculty work in tandem with families, supporting one another as we educate our children and instill in them a strong foundation of faith, community and confidence that enables them to continue their educational journey and contribute to society.
If you are looking for a faith-based school, small class sizes and challenging academic programs, consider St. John Catholic School. We hope you will join us!
St. John School shares the mission and vision laid out for all of Maine's Catholic schools:
Maine Catholic Schools nourish faith and provide academic excellence, community and service to our students in a nurturing environment.
At St. John, we believe that the formation of strong character is as important as learning a subject. We offer a moral code and value-based education experience, keeping the formation of the whole child in mind, including the intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual growth.
In addition to daily religious instruction, our students at St. John go to Mass every Wednesday together as a school, and join parishioners for daily Mass. Students have many opportunities to serve those in need through service projects including local and missionary needs. The students also present a Christmas concert each year for school families and the church community. Students from all faiths are welcome.
Our challenging academic curriculum gives students a great start on the path of academic success. Students at our school receive individual attention through small class sizes and learn all core subjects including reading, writing, math, social studies and science. We also offer French, art and music. All of our classrooms also are equipped with a computer lab.
Our highly qualified, caring and certified teachers strive to reach children at all levels of academic ability, including extra instruction in reading through the Title I program for children who qualify.
We encourage our students to recognize their individual talents and leadership qualities through a variety of community service projects, peer ministry, the arts, science and fitness. Family and community connections also are an integral part of our school. We nurture relationships and celebrate with families with events throughout the year such as: Grandparents’ Day, Muffin Mornings, school picnics, family hour, character parade, Christmas plays and concerts, countries night, a variety show, dances, auctions, parish meals and more.
